Drill Operator

Triad Engineering, Inc. has an immediate need for a Drill Operator in our Scott Depot, WV office.

The Drill Operator will operate and/or direct operation of a drill rig for purpose of performing test borings

Vehicle Provided ~ Clothing Allowance ~ PPE Provided

Equipment operating experience required

CDL Class A or B preferred

DUTIES

  • Follow all corporate and job site safety procedures
  • Obtain soil and rock samples from test borings, using proper collection/handling methods
  • Install monitoring wells, piezometers and inclinometers
  • Prepare boring logs and field reports
  • Maintain vehicles and equipment in clean and working order
  • Oversee and perform drill rig and support vehicle maintenance
  • Maintain a service-friendly and professional relationship with the client/owner while on site
  • Maintain frequent and effective communication with the Drilling Supervisor
  • Strive to make each project profitable

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Experience

  • 2 years of experience in the operation of drill rig or similar heavy equipment

Additional Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • A CDL license is strongly encouraged
  • Must be available to work in all types of indoor and outdoor environments

The employee regularly works in outside weather conditions, frequently works near moving mechanical parts, and is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Must have the ability to stand 90% of the time (often on uneven surfaces) and walk 20% of the time with frequent bending and stooping. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms; frequently required to stand, talk and hear; occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, kneel, crouch and crawl. Required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
