Regional Manager

Triad Engineering, Inc. has an immediate need for a Regional Manager to successfully lead and manage the technical quality, growth and profitability of all disciplines within the specified region.

This position may be based in our Pittsburgh, PA or Morgantown, WV office, requiring shared time in each location.

The Preferred Candidate:

  • Must hold a P.E. license
  • Must have 10+ years of progressive experience within the service(s) offered by Triad, including management of staff, projects and client base
  • Displays strong technical skills
  • Is results-oriented with superior skills in organization, planning and attention to detail

DUTIES

Foster a safety-first culture by following and promoting all corporate safety policies and procedures

Technical Expertise

  • Review deliverables for accuracy and consistency
  • Gain and improve knowledge of all service lines within assigned region

Leadership

  • Direct the day-to-day operations of the region
  • Promote and maintain a positive work environment
  • Coordinate the performance of the region with the COO
  • Assist in the formulation of business, marketing and strategic plans
  • Coordinate activities with other regions on shared projects and resources
  • Represent the region at appropriate meetings
  • Assess the needs, and implement the solutions, for continuous improvement throughout all regional operations
  • Oversee and ensure maintenance of lab accreditations and staff certifications
  • Effectively conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines 
  • Forecast administrative, staffing and facility needs for the region

Business Development

  • Recognize, initiate and advance business development opportunities
  • Prospect, develop and maintain client relationships
  • Know the market and competition 
  • Drive Triad's sales process
  • Work closely with the region's Business Development Leader to identify and develop profitable project work
  • Engage with the community and professional organizations to enhance the firm's position in the marketplace
  • Assist with proposal preparation 

Finance

  • Achieve utilization, revenue and profit goals set by the company
  • Strive to make maximize profitability within each practice group
  • Ensure that all activities are carried out in compliance with local, state and federal regulations
  • Review and understand P&L to ensure that each practice is operating within financial guidelines 
  • Review utilization and productivity reports to ensure that each practice group is meeting goals
  • Ensure that effective systems for work planning and profit control are implemented
  • Monitor work-in-process, billings, outstanding accounts receivable and collection efforts
  • Drive price increases
  • Assist the COO and CFO in the preparation of budgets and cash flow projections

Personnel

  • Network to prepare for future and key hires
  • Approve all hiring decisions and participate in the hiring process for all professional staff
  • Ensure that sufficient numbers of employees are available and trained to assume the leadership of all key functions within the region
  • Ensure that all employees are properly trained, coached and mentored
  • Mandate timely, accurate, and carefully planned and reviewed submittals
  • Mandate all service lines be professional, competent and customer-focused
  • Addresses complaints and resolves issues in a timely and professional manner

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent; post-graduate degree in engineering or post-graduate studies in business/management desirable

Certifications

  • Professional Engineering License 

Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive experience within the service(s) offered by Triad, including management of staff, projects and client base

Additional Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver's license 
  • Must possess intermediate to advanced computer skills (MS Office and relevant technical software required), including the ability to learn various types of company / client software
  • Must be available to work in all types of indoor environments

The employee may occasionally be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Work may routinely require the employee to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear and frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work is most often performed in an office setting, but occasionally performed under varied weather conditions, sometimes on construction sites or in difficult terrain, and sometimes involves extensive standing and walking.
