Staff Scientist

Triad Engineering, Inc. has an immediate need for a full-time Staff Scientist in our Scott Depot, WV office.

The successful candidate is an entry-level professional who will successfully support senior staff in the planning, designing and implementation of multiple routine projects.

Duties assigned may take place in the office, laboratory and/or field 

DUTIES

  • Assist in developing methods and systems that best fit the environment being researched
  • Perform assignments requiring the application of standard criteria, procedures and techniques 
  • Use observations, samples and specimens to collect data
  • Record and store observations, samples and specimens in the lab and in fieldwork
  • Communicate with senior scientists through formal and informal reports
  • Assist in preparing reports and correspondence related to assigned projects
  • Limited exercise of independent judgment may be required, with all decisions and actions reported to senior personnel at first opportunity
  • May perform asbestos inspections and collecting of asbestos samples
  • May perform air monitoring 
  • Strive to make each project profitable
  • Participate in business development and customer service whenever possible

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry or other appropriate scientific discipline

Experience

  • 0-2 years applicable professional experience

Additional Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Must possess advanced reading, writing and math skills
  • Must be comfortable communicating with the public
  • Must possess intermediate to advanced computer skills (MS Office and relevant technical software required), including the ability to learn various types of company / client software
  • Must be available to work in all types of indoor and outdoor environments

Work is performed both in the office and in the field, which may include all weather conditions, construction sites and/or difficult terrain, and extensive standing and walking. The employee may occasionally be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry field equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Work may routinely require the employee to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Must have the ability to see and smell; including close, distance and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus.
